PC 2 - Make a Difference - Choose to Lead!
Thursday, October 29, 2009. 10:00 a.m. to 4:00
p.m.
Leaders need to establish an effective balance
between business and personal priorities to stabilize organizational
culture, and to build and maintain trust. The diversity amongst
those we work with has never been as broad in the history of modern
organizations as it is now. The wide range of these differences
requires a leadership approach that recognizes four generations,
distinct personal dimensions, gender, ethnicity and many other
challenges. This seminar will focus on six leadership behaviours
that will improve your willingness and ability to influence others
to act in ways they have yet to contemplate, with the goal of
reaching shared values in the pursuit of a shared vision.

PC 3 - Inform, Consult, Empower! Use Community
Development as a Basis for Planning in your Community
Thursday, October 29, 2009. 10:00 a.m. to 4:00
p.m.
A community development approach is beneficial for
the delivery of programs, services, events and facilities. What does
this mean in terms of the day-to-day realities of making it happen?
In this session, participants will explore a planning framework
using a community development approach, and apply the planning
framework to his or her own community experiences. Each participant
will leave the session with their own "Community Leader's Toolkit"
which contains an extensive collection of tools and resources.
Note: This session will be similar to the one
delivered at the 2008 Pre-Conference.

PC 4 - Creative Spirit and Healthy Play Workshop
Thursday, October 29, 2009. 10:00 a.m. to 4:00
p.m.
Healthy Play is about character education,
recreation site management and conflict resolution. Youth
organizations deal more and more with aggressive and unsociable
behaviors both on and off campus. The net result is a decreased
effectiveness in the learning process. Creative Spirit knows that
healthy play is a solution! Our training seminar provides the
philosophy and practical skills to develop positive character traits
in children. We accomplish this with our unique
learning-through-play program, which practices positive social
behavior within the recreational setting. When enabled by a setting
of fun and humor, children can learn the basic essential character
and socialization skills necessary to successfully interact with
each other in an enjoyable and exciting manner.
We teach the philosophy and underlying dynamics of
using play therapeutically. Our step by step approach demonstrates
exactly how each staff member will develop a successful program for
their site. The experiential training enables staff to easily
transfer the concepts to their own specific recreation groups.
