Investing in Healthy People & Communities through Community Recreation and Parks Infrastructure Position Paper

The ARPA Board of Directors has recently (August 2nd, 2006) released an important and timely position paper to the provincial government entitled "Investing in Healthy People and Communities Through Community Recreation and Parks Infrastructure" - see ARPA transmittal letter to Honourable Denis Ducharme and position paper below.  The position paper, which was prepared through the Association's Infrastructure and Utilities Committee, is supported by extensive province-wide recreation facility assessments undertaken over the past 3 to 4 years as well as other relevant research reports which are also identified and linked below.

a report that assessed the degree to which provincial and local legislation and practice regarding municipal open space allocation was in keeping with recreation trends, healthy lifestyles, environmental protection and economic sustainability in Alberta Communities; prepared by Randall Conrad and Associates, 2005.
