Alberta Lottery Fund
|
|
Objective: To provide financial assistance for the expansion and
upgrading of Alberta's extensive network of community-use
facilities.
Types of Grants: The program provides matching grants to
municipalities, Indian Bands and Metis Settlements, and registered
community non-profit groups to build, purchase, repair, renovate, or
otherwise improve related family and community wellness facilities. |

The Community Initiatives Program will
support project-based initiatives in areas such as community
services, seniors' services, libraries, arts and culture, sports,
education, health and recreation. The maximum grant will be $75,000
per project per year, and applications can be submitted anytime
throughout the year.
CIP funding is approved on a matching grant basis. The matching
requirement may be met in the form of any contribution of money,
volunteer labour, services, or donated materials or equipment for
the project. If a group can demonstrate significant difficulty in
raising matching funds, up to $10,000 will be considered on a
non-matching basis. |

The purpose of the Hosting
Program is to encourage the development of sport,
recreation, parks and wildlife programs by providing
financial support to communities and associations to assist
them in hosting major events thereby promoting economic growth
throughout the province. |

develop, coordinate and implement projects that are innovative in
addressing the issue of youth engagement and volunteerism within
Alberta communities. |

The ME first! program was launched in
September 2003 by Alberta Municipal Affairs and Alberta Environment
in support of the Alberta government's action plan on climate
change. ME first! is a four-year, $100 million interest-free loan
program administered by Climate Change Central that is designed to
help municipalities:

community-based charitable program that helps kids in financial need
participate in organized sport and recreation such as hockey, soccer
and swimming. |

Evergreen Canada
(National)
|
|
The Home Depot Canada and Evergreen are
pleased to announce a new grant program for community stewardship
groups in cities and towns across Canada. The Home Depot - Evergreen
Rebuilding Nature Grant will provide funding, tools and materials,
as well as volunteer resources for urban environmental stewardship
projects, including habitat restoration and community garden
projects.

Evergreen's Common Grounds Program, in
partnership with Wal-Mart Canada, is pleased to offer Green Grants a
new national program that helps fund community-based restoration and
stewardship initiatives in urban and urbanizing areas.

Evergreen's Common Grounds Program, in
partnership with Unilever Canada, is pleased to offer this grant
program to engage communities in the stewardship of Canada's urban
aquatic habitats. |

Farm Credit Canada
(National)
|
|
The
FCC AgriSpirit Fund will offer $400,000 to fund rural
capital projects. Funding ranges between $5,000 and $25,000 per
project.
What qualifies?
For your project to be considered for funding, it must:
-
enhance the quality of life for people
who live in rural communities
-
be a capital project (equipment,
building funds, etc.)
-
be completed by March 2008
-
be registered through the Canada
Revenue Agency (CRA) or
-
be an agricultural society or
-
be partnered with a municipal
government who agrees to receive the money contributed, control
the expenditures and issue official tax receipts in the
municipality's name
-
be located in rural Canada with a
population less than 100,000 people
-
allow FCC to put up a permanent sign

Inmotion Network
(Provincial)
|
|
Girls in Motion is a "girl-friendly" program that provides
high-quality recreational, sport/physical activity programs
specifically for girls ages 10-14 in Alberta. Girls in Motion
programs are community run and organized and are made to order based
on the needs of individual communities. Communities are encouraged
to apply for a grant to address the needs of inactive girls and
those girls who are unable to access activity programs due to
limitations of income, location, culture, family, perceived ability
etc. |
Go
Girl is a one day experience in which teenaged girls are invited to
see-and-try a variety of physical activities and sports and access
resources on how to continue participating in these activities. The
goal of this event is to encourage and support teenaged girls in
choosing an active, healthy lifestyle. Go Girl is a great
opportunity for girls to move beyond some of the barriers to
participating in physical activity. Go Girl events provide a unique
opportunity for communities to reach out to their teen girls.
Communities are encouraged to apply for a grant to host such an
event. The 2006 Go Girl program provided funding up to a maximum of
$2500. |

Truesport Foundation

|
|
The 2006 Bell Community Sport Fund will
help communities increase inclusion and accessibility in hockey and
soccer programs for children and youth, aged four to seventeen. Over
the next year, up to 140 communities in British Columbia, Alberta,
Ontario and Quebec and will benefit from $5,000 grants and up to 12
additional communities in those provinces will receive $25,000
grants. |

Priorities for environmental grants will
be directed to projects that work toward the following long-term
outcomes:

Air Protection of the atmosphere,
including clean air, and the mitigation of climate change;

Wilderness Protection and restoration of
wilderness, natural areas and wildlife habitat;

Water Protection and conservation of
water and/or the maintenance of water quality;
